Meet the author!
Hi there! I’m Heather Schenck. When I’m not writing this newsletter, I’m either teaching mindfulness meditation, caring for infants in a neonatal intensive care unit, or climbing trees and goofing off with my children. I have a husband who’s also a nurse and enjoys woodworking, two children who inspire and tire me every day, and a rescue dog named Charlie that is mischievous and playful. This is him.
If you’re here, you’ve decided you’re interested in what mindfulness is, and how it can improve your life. The good news is, mindfulness practices are accessible to anyone and there are no dangerous side effects to mindfully attending to your life, except that—what you find might surprise you. Congratulations on boldly and bravely taking positive action in your life!
What happens here? Well, this newsletter is dedicated to reducing individual and collective suffering by inspiring wakefulness of the world. It is my belief that by awakening in ourselves the true nature of our existence, we can reduce harm not only to ourselves but the entire planet. This place will serve as a fertile ground for creating deeper and more meaningful connections with ourselves, others, and the Earth.
Why subscribe?
I am here because teaching mindfulness is what I am most passionate about. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to go to grad school for my Nurse Practitioner degree but declined acceptance because I felt strongly called to bring these healing teachings to the world. I have had my own personal mindfulness practice for many years now, and graduated from UC Berkeley Greater Good Science Center’s two year long Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification program. My goal here is to provide you with access to mindfulness practices and Buddhist concepts that will make your life better. By subscribing now, you’ll begin a journey to awakening more peace and joy in your life. You can expect to receive a monthly newsletter with mindful musings from my life, thoughtful inquiry for you to reflect on, and stay up to date with all that I offer. The time for healing is now, and you are ready for the journey.
